Managing Small Fires in the Workplace

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to fire emergencies in the workplace in line with the AS3745-2010. The training also includes safe and appropriate use of portable fire extinguishers, fire hoses, fire blankets and fire hydrants to manage small fires where safe to do so.

Chief Warden, Deputy Chief Warden And Fire Indicator Panel (FIP) Training

This focused training course is intended for Chief Wardens and Deputy Chief Warden's responsible for interpreting and managing Fire Indicator Panels during emergencies. Participants will understand their leadership roles and develop the practical skills to effectively monitor, interpret, and engage with FIPs during fire incidents, compliant to AS 3745-2010

Course Overview:

This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the role of a Fire Warden and respond effectively to fire emergencies in the workplace, in line with the Australian Standard 3745-2010. The training also includes safe and appropriate use of portable fire extinguishers to control small fires where safe to do so.

  • Overview of AS 3745-2010 and its application in workplace emergency planning

  • Roles and responsibilities of Fire Wardens and Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) members

  • Fire prevention strategies and identification of fire hazards

  • Workplace emergency procedures and evacuation protocols

  • Use of emergency warning and Intercommunication systems (EWIS)

  • Types of fires and fire extinguishing methods (PASS technique)

  • Practical use of fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and hose reels

Participants will understand their leadership roles and develop the practical skills to effectively monitor, interpret, and engage with FIPs during fire incidents, according to AS 3745:2010 standards.

 

Course Content Includes:

  • Overview of AS 3745:2010 requirements regarding ECO leadership and fire system management

  • Chief Warden responsibilities: leadership, decision-making, and coordination during emergencies

  • In-depth study of Fire Indicator Panels (FIPs):

    • Understanding panel layout, alarm types, zones, and fault indicators

    • Differentiating between fire, fault, and supervisory signals

    • Procedures for acknowledging, silencing, resetting, and forwarding panel signals

    • Coordinating with fire brigade based on FIP indications

  • Emergency Warning and Intercommunication Systems (EWIS) operation

  • Implementing and managing emergency evacuation procedures using information from the FIP

  • Emergency communication protocols within the building and with emergency services

  • Post-event analysis: debriefings, incident reporting, and updating emergency plans

LV Release and Rescue Training

Course Overview:

This nationally recognised course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform a rescue from a live low voltage (LV) electrical incident and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with AS/NZS 4836:2011. It is essential for anyone working on or near live low-voltage equipment, especially electricians and nominated safety observers.

Course Content Includes:

  • Safe approach distances and risk assessment procedures

  • Roles and responsibilities of the safety observer

  • Use of insulated rescue equipment (LV Rescue Kit)

  • Performing a low voltage panel rescue in a simulated environment

  • CPR techniques for adults, including use of an AED

  • Legal and workplace requirements for rescue and first aid

  • Emergency response procedures and communication

  • Incident reporting and post-incident procedures

  • Licensed electricians and electrical apprentices

  • Safety observers and switchboard operators
